May 9, 2024. The head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan of Astana and Kazakhstan, Alexander, congratulated the people of Kazakhstan on the anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War:
Dear Kazakhstanis! Brothers and sisters!
I warmly congratulate you on the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War!
This holiday, filled with joy and sorrow, is truly a nationwide triumph – a celebration of the spirit, courage, and valor of our people, who selflessly defended the honor and freedom of the Fatherland. In all battles, alongside representatives from other republics, our fellow Kazakhstanis participated.
As we commemorate this memorable date, we remember that it was achieved at the cost of innumerable sufferings, sacrifices, and deprivations. The disasters that befell on the Motherland in the distant forties of the last century united people of different nationalities and religions, different views and beliefs, into one large family, who stood up to defend the Fatherland in a united effort.
With gratitude, we recall the heroism of those who, at the cost of their lives, military and labor achievements, brought peace to our land, and stood firm during the mournful hour of enemy invasion, we are called to preserve the greatest achievement of Victory – peace and harmony.
On this sacred day, a thanksgiving service is performed in all the churches of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan for the deliverance of humanity from the fascist yoke and a special commemoration of the soldiers who tragically perished during the Great Patriotic War.
On this sacred and festive day, I wish all of you peace, health, and prosperity.
The Head of the Metropolitan District sent congratulatory addresses on Victory Day to the President of the country K.-Zh.K. Tokayev, members of the government, city and regional governors, and parliamentarians.
