October 18 – the Day of Spiritual Accord in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan congratulated the citizens on this holiday.
"This holiday, established at the dawn of Kazakhstan’s independence, has become a symbol of unity and cohesion of our multiethnic and multidenominational nation. In one of his speeches, the highly respected President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Kemeluly Tokayev, noted: 'In unity and accord, we have been able to build a new state – this is our main achievement. We have strengthened the spirit of our nation, laying a solid foundation for development'.
Today, by embodying the eternal and enduring ideals of good neighborliness, mutual understanding, compassion, and respect for each other, we faithfully preserve peace and harmony in the vast expanses of the Great Steppe. From ancient times to the present day, representatives of the two leading denominations in the Republic – Orthodoxy and Hanafi Islam – together strengthen the spiritual accord in the country and pass this sacred tradition on to their descendants. I am convinced that the fruitful state-denominational relationships formed over the years of sovereignty will continue to promote the preservation of brotherly love among representatives of different nationalities and religions, as well as the creation of a spiritually strong and morally healthy society. May God grant that in our state, people of different ethnicities, beliefs, and cultures always have the opportunity to live in peace and work together towards the prosperity of our common home – blessed Kazakhstan," said the head of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District in his congratulations.
