On November 20, 2023, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan congratulated the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, on his 77th birthday. The congratulatory message from the Head of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, reads:
"Your Holiness, please accept congratulations on your birthday! From your youth, your entire life has been entirely devoted to the service of the 'living and true God' (Heb. 9:14). As the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, you set an example of strong faith, fervent love for God, and selfless labors in Christ's vineyard to your episcopate, clergy, and your numerous flock. By devoting all your strength to the Patriarchal service, you confidently lead God's people on the path of salvation, tirelessly teaching them the truths of the Gospel.
Your years as Primate have been marked by the adoption of important decisions aimed at strengthening the traditional spiritual foundations of the countries and peoples within the canonical space of the Russian Orthodox Church, including the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The example of your truly ascetic deeds inspires bishops, clergy, and laity in their service to the Mother Church.
On this solemn day, please accept, Your Holiness, wishes for robust health, longevity, and 'mercy from the Lord' (Jude 1:21). May the All-Merciful Lord grant you His support in your laborious and responsible Primatial service for the benefit of the Orthodox Church.
