December 16, 2024 – Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, extended his congratulations to the President of the Republic, Kassym-Jomart Kemelovich Tokayev, on the anniversary of the proclamation of the nation’s independence.
“On this day in 1991, a new page in the history of our country was opened with the declaration of sovereignty and independence.
In the years since, Kazakhstan has achieved great success in building a democratic society, developing social institutions, and creating an effective economic system. On the global stage, the Republic has earned respect as a model of peace, interethnic, and interreligious harmony. The multiethnic and multiconfessional people of Kazakhstan are one big family—united, tempered by the trials of the last century, and experiencing the joy of accomplishments in the 21st century.
In one of your addresses, you said: ‘Independence is above all else! It is our duty to past and future generations to cherish and protect sacred Independence with all our strength as the greatest value, the foundation of the nation’s prosperity and well-being.’
May God grant that the joint efforts of state, public, and religious organizations succeed in furthering the development of our shared home—blessed Kazakhstan.
On this festive day, I sincerely wish you, esteemed Kassym-Jomart Kemelovich, good health, strength, and blessed success in your service to our beloved Kazakhstan,” the Head of the Kazakh Metropolis stated in his message.
Metropolitan Alexander also extended his congratulations on this national holiday to the country’s leadership, members of parliament, and regional and city akims.
