Archimandrite Sergey (Sergey Leonidovich Karamyshev) was born on November 29, 1978, in the city of Lipetsk.

In 1996, he graduated from high school.

Since 1991, he became a regular parishioner and began studying spiritual books.

Since 1993, he has been serving as an altar server and reader at the Transfiguration Church in Lipetsk.

Since August 1993, he has been a reader-choirmaster and bell ringer at the St. Nicholas Church in the village of Dvurechki.

In 1995, he was transferred to the position of choirmaster of the left choir and senior altar server at the Church of the Nativity of Christ in Lipetsk.

On April 12, 1998, he was ordained a deacon by Archbishop Amvrosiy of Ivanovo and Kineshma at the Transfiguration Cathedral in Ivanovo.

On August 9, 1998, he was ordained a priest by Archbishop Amvrosiy of Ivanovo and Kineshma at the St. Sergius Church in the village of Ankovo, Ivanovo region, with the right to wear the epigonation.

On August 18, 1998, he was appointed rector of the Church of St. Athanasius of Athos in the village of Mugreevsky, Yuzhsky district, Ivanovo region.

On November 9, 1998, he was appointed rector of the Kazan Church in the village of Mugreevsky and rector of the community forming at the Kazan Church of the Holy Lake Iveron Convent.

On January 14, 2001, he was appointed rector of the Trinity Church in the village of Peremilovo, Ivanovo region.

On August 9, 2001, he was appointed rector of the Church of the Nativity of Christ in the village of Sosnovets.

On May 14, 2003, in addition to his main service, he was appointed rector of the Church of the Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon at the central district hospital in the town of Rodniki, Ivanovo region.

In 2004, he graduated from the Moscow Theological Seminary.

In 2007, he was transferred to the Kostroma diocese.

On June 1, 2007, he was appointed rector of the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh at the Gerontological Center in Kostroma.

On July 1, 2007, he was appointed rector of the Tikhon Church in Kostroma.

On November 19, 2007, by decree of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia, he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Synodal Department of the Russian Orthodox Church for Youth Affairs.

On November 29, 2007, he was tonsured a monk by Archbishop Alexander of Kostroma and Galich at the Epiphany-Anastasia Monastery in Kostroma.

On April 29, 2008, he was elevated to the rank of hegumen.

In 2008, he graduated from the Moscow Theological Academy.

On March 4, 2010, he was transferred to the Astana and Almaty diocese.

On March 22, 2010, he was appointed dean of the Astana church district.

On March 22, 2010, he was appointed rector of the Dormition Cathedral, the Constantine and Helen Cathedral, and the Church of St. Seraphim of Sarov in Astana.

On March 23, 2010, he was appointed Chairman of the Spiritual Council of the Astana Women's Monastery "Seeking the Lost."

On December 18, 2010, he was appointed Secretary of the Astana Diocesan Administration.

On April 8, 2010, he was additionally appointed rector of the St. Nicholas Church in the village of Malotimofeevka, Tselinograd district, Akmola region.

Since September 3, 2012, he has been the rector of the St. John the Forerunner Church in the village of Rodina, the Church of the New Martyrs and Confessors of Akmola in the village of Akmol, and the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross in the village of Vozdvizhenka, Tselinograd district, Akmola region.
