Barsanuphius, Archbishop of Kokshetau and Akmola (secular name – Vladimir Semyonovich Vinnichenko), was born on March 19, 1961, in Donetsk (Ukraine). In 1976, he completed eight grades at Secondary School No. 110 in Donetsk.
In 1981, he graduated with distinction from the Donetsk College of Industrial Automation and, upon assignment, began working in the city of Rostov-on-Don. That same year, he moved to the city of Maykop, where he served as head of a construction and installation site on regional construction projects.
In 1993, he graduated from the Moscow Technical University.
On July 21, 1994, he was appointed bursar of the Maykop Diocese.
On January 7, 1995, he was ordained deacon by Archbishop Alexander (Timofeyev) of Maykop and Armavir and was assigned to the clergy of the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Maykop.
On January 19, 1995, he was ordained priest by Archbishop Alexander of Maykop.
On December 6, 1995, he was received into the clergy of the Donetsk Diocese and assigned to serve at the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh at the Transfiguration Cathedral under construction in Donetsk.
On August 21, 1996, with the blessing of Bishop Alipy of Gorlovka and Slavyansk, he was tonsured a monk by Hegumen Arseny (Yakovenko), superior of the Dormition Sviatogorsk Monastery, receiving the name Barsanuphius in honor of St. Barsanuphius of Optina (commemorated on April 1/14).
Beginning in 1997, he carried out pastoral ministry at the Monastery in honor of the Kasperov Icon of the Theotokos in the village of Gruzko-Lomovka, Donetsk Region.
From August 31, 1998, he served as rector of the Church of St. Tikhon in the city of Novodonetsk, Donetsk Region, and as dean of the Novodonetsk District of the Gorlovka Diocese.
On November 15, 1998, he was elevated to the rank of hegumen by Archbishop Hilarion of Donetsk and Mariupol.
Beginning in 2000, he served as rector of the Church of St. Agapitus of the Caves in Donetsk. Since 2002, he has been spiritual father of the Iveron Convent of the Donetsk Diocese; since 2003, spiritual father of the Donetsk Deanery in the city of Donetsk.
On April 15, 2004, he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite by Metropolitan Hilarion of Donetsk and Mariupol.
In 2007, he graduated from the Moscow Theological Seminary.
Beginning in 2008, he taught History of the Russian Orthodox Church and Fundamental Theology at Donetsk National University.
Since 2009, he has served as spiritual father of the Trinity District in Donetsk. On February 7, 2013, he was appointed spiritual father of the Donetsk Diocese.
By decision of the Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on March 15, 2013 (Journal No. 36), he was appointed Bishop of Novoazovsk, Vicar of the Donetsk Diocese.
He was named Bishop on March 29, 2013, at the Church of All Saints of the Panteleimon Monastery in Feofania, Kyiv. He was consecrated on March 30 during the Divine Liturgy at the main church of the Panteleimon Monastery in Feofania. The service was led by His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir of Kyiv and All Ukraine.
By decree of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphrius of Kyiv and All Ukraine dated August 17, 2022, he was elevated to the rank of archbishop.
By resolution of the Holy Synod of March 20, 2025 (Journal No. 7), he was appointed Archbishop of Kokshetau and Akmola.
