On February 5, 2025—the commemoration day of Venerable Gennady of Kostroma and Lyubimograd and the feast of the Synaxis of the Saints of Kostroma—with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen, Chancellor of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of St. Vladimir in Almaty.
Serving with His Grace were: Hieromonk Sergius (Vnukovsky), the sacristan of the Church of St. Vladimir, and Hierodeacon Athanasius (Kozel).
The liturgical hymns were sung by the choir of the Church of St. Vladimir, under the direction of G. Belitsky.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, the magnification was sung in honor of Venerable Gennady of Kostroma and Lyubimograd, the Wonderworker, and the Synaxis of the Saints who shone forth in the land of Kostroma.
On behalf of the clergy and parishioners, Hieromonk Sergius (Vnukovsky) congratulated Bishop Gennady on the occasion of his name day, wishing him strength of soul and body and grace-filled assistance from the Lord in his service to the Holy Church.
The Chancellor of the Metropolis of Kazakhstan warmly thanked those gathered for their well wishes and prayerful support, after which he delivered a sermon.
On the eve of the feast, the hierarch celebrated the All-Night Vigil at the Church of St. Vladimir in Almaty.
