Metropolitan Alexander Held a Meeting on Restoration and Construction Works in the Astana Deanery

18 February 2026 – Astana. At the Spiritual, Cultural and Administrative Center of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District named after the Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan chaired a working meeting.

The meeting was devoted to issues related to repair, restoration and construction works at the parishes of the Astana Deanery, the development of spiritual and educational activities, and the implementation of social and youth initiatives.

The meeting was attended by: the dean of the parishes of the capital of Kazakhstan, Archimandrite Sergius (Karamyshev); the sacristan of the Dormition Cathedral, Hieromonk Dimitry (Baidek); the sacristan of the Sts. Constantine and Helen Cathedral, Archpriest Sergius Kaliyev; the sacristan of St. Seraphim Church, Archpriest Evgeny Korolkov; the head of the Astana Orthodox Youth Movement and assistant to the dean, Priest Sergius Dianov; and staff members of the Astana Diocesan Administration.

Before the meeting began, the archpastor greeted those present and outlined the current tasks facing the leadership and staff of the deanery.

After reviewing the information presented by the participants, Metropolitan Alexander put forward proposals concerning the implementation of restoration and construction works in the current year, as well as the organization of effective parish educational, youth and social activities. He then gave the clergy and diocesan staff the appropriate instructions.

The metropolitan thanked the dean and his assistants for the high level of organization of the celebrations of Theophany, which were attended by more than 20,000 people, and the nationwide Orthodox Youth Sretensky Ball. The hierarch also noted the proper quality of the deanery’s information work carried out through social media.
