With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the vicars of the Astana Diocese celebrated the services of the first week of Great Lent and of the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy in the churches of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District.
On the morning of 23 February 2026, Monday of the first week of Great Lent, the Administrator of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen, prayed at the appointed service at St Vladimir Church of the city of Almaty, where Matins, the Hours, the Typika and Vespers were served.
That same evening, the hierarch presided over the reading of the Great Penitential Canon of Venerable Andrew of Crete at the Trinity Church of the Nativity of Christ Cathedral of the Southern Capital.
On 24 February, the Administrator of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District celebrated Great Compline with the reading of the Penitential Canon of Venerable Andrew of Crete at St Nicholas Cathedral of the Southern Capital.
On 25 February, Bishop Gennady presided at the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts at St Nicholas Cathedral of the city of Almaty.

In the evening, the archpastor celebrated Great Compline with the reading of the third part of the Great Penitential Canon at the Church in honor of the Synaxis of the Most Holy Theotokos of the Protection–All Saints parish of the Southern Capital.
On 26 February, Bishop Gennady read the concluding part of the Canon of Venerable Andrew of Crete at the Dormition Cathedral of the city of Astana.
On 27 February, the hierarch presided at the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts and the blessing of koliva at the main church of the capital of Kazakhstan.

On 28 February, Saturday of the first week of Great Lent, the day of commemoration of the Great Martyr Theodore the Recruit, the archpastor celebrated the Liturgy of St John Chrysostom at the St Constantine and Helen Cathedral of the city of Astana.
On 1 March, the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen presided at the Divine Liturgy of St Basil the Great at the capital’s Cathedral in honor of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos.
Concelebrating with the archpastor were: Dean of the Astana Church District Archimandrite Sergy (Karamyshev); head of the Orthodox youth movement of the Astana Deanery Priest Grigory Kulikov; Priest Sergy Dianov; Deacon Ilya Davydov; Deacon Mikhail Chumakov; Deacon Maxim Kuznetsov; Deacon Yaroslav Vokhmentsev.
