In Kostanay, the Feast Day of the Iveron-Peter and Paul Convent Was Prayerfully Celebrated
October 26, 2024 – Feast of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God.
 
With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the secretary of the Kostanay Diocese, Hieromonk Gennady Burdyuzha, together with Hieromonk Methodius (Chulkov), celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Iveron-Peter and Paul Convent in the village of Oktyabrskoye, marking the convent’s patronal feast day.
 
Praying at the service were Hegumeness Nika (Otroshchenko) with the sisters of the convent, staff of the diocesan administration, parishioners, and pilgrims from Kostanay.
 
The choir of the Sts. Constantine and Helena Cathedral, directed by T. Zhebrak, sang during the service.
 
The Liturgy concluded with hymns of praise to the Most Holy Theotokos before her Iveron icon, the only remaining artifact from the original Iveron Monastery in Kostanay, which was closed by Soviet authorities in 1925.
 
The secretary of the Kostanay Diocese congratulated the hegumeness and parishioners on the feast day and addressed those gathered with a sermon.
 
With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, Hieromonk Gennady presented diocesan medals and letters of gratitude to the benefactors of the revived convent.
