December 24, 2024. Almaty. With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the defense of graduation theses by fourth-year students of the part-time department of the Almaty Orthodox Theological Seminary took place.
The Examination Commission was chaired remotely by the Acting Rector of the Almaty Orthodox Theological Seminary, Protopriest Evgeny Ivanov.
The working group included: the Vice-Rector for Educational Work, Priest Ioann Livinsky, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Candidate of Philosophy A.P. Solovyov, the Head of the Biblical-Theological Department, Candidate of Theology, Priest Oleg Lisin, the Head of the Church History Department, Protopriest Alexander Gaychenya, a Lecturer in the Biblical-Theological Department and Research Fellow of the Seminary, Protopriest Alexander Suvorov, the Head of the Practical Theology Department, Candidate of Theology, Reader V.P. Pashkov, the Head of the Part-Time Department, Priest Daniil Bobylev, the Head of the Seminary’s Administration, Priest Alexander Shishlov, a Member of the Church History Department, Priest Kirill Freygang, a Staff Member of the Practical Theology Department, Priest Kirill Gromov, a Research Fellow of the Seminary, Deacon Rustik Yakupov, and other seminary lecturers.
The attendees offered prayers before beginning their important work, after which Protopriest Evgeny Ivanov greeted the faculty and students and conveyed the blessing of the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan.
Following the students’ presentations, the Examination Commission deliberated and announced the defense results. The faculty noted the high quality and relevance of the presented theses, emphasizing their significance in the contemporary stage of the Church’s development.
The Acting Rector of the Almaty Seminary, Protopriest Evgeny Ivanov, expressed gratitude to the faculty for their dedicated efforts and congratulated the graduates and their academic advisors on their successful defense.
