December 20, 2024. Almaty. With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the final session of the first semester of the 2024-2025 academic year was held for the evening theological courses for laity at the Central Sunday School of St. Nicholas Cathedral.
The event was led by Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen, Chancellor of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan.
Attendees included Galina Vasilyevna Cherepanova, Director of the Central Sunday School, as well as instructors Hierodeacon Athanasius (Kozel) and L.M. Gizatulina.
The bishop delivered a lecture on the New Testament book Apocalypse. He explained the theological significance of the prophetic texts, analyzed their symbolism and key imagery, and emphasized their relevance in light of the spiritual challenges of modern times.
After the lecture, His Grace answered questions from the audience, extended Christmas greetings, and encouraged students to continue their studies with unwavering dedication.
