On January 24, 2025, a meeting of the Academic Council was held at the Almaty Orthodox Theological Seminary under the chairmanship of the Acting Rector of the seminary, Protopriest Evgeny Ivanov.
Participants included the Vice Rector for Educational Work, Priest Ioann Livinsky; Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Priest Petr Bakhtiyarov; Vice Rector for Research, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, A.P. Solovyov; Head of the Biblical-Theological Department, Candidate of Theology, Priest Oleg Lisin; Head of the Church History Department, Protopriest Alexander Gaychenya; Head of the Practical Theology Department, Candidate of Theology, Reader V.P. Pashkov; Head of the Correspondence Department, Priest Daniil Bobylev; and Head of the Seminary Office, Priest Alexander Shishlov.
The meeting began with an address from Protopriest Evgeny, who welcomed the faculty and congratulated them on the start of the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year, followed by the announcement of the meeting’s agenda.
Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Priest Petr Bakhtiyarov, outlined the dates for the upcoming final summer examination session and the defense of graduation theses, as well as the date of the formal graduation ceremony.
Next, Vice Rector for Educational Work, Priest Ioann Livinsky, delivered a report highlighting the main directions of educational activities for the second semester.
During the session, the heads of departments presented reports on the activities of their respective academic divisions during the first semester.
The participants also discussed pressing issues concerning the life of the seminary.
