On January 26, 2025, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, an intellectual quiz dedicated to the Gospel narratives and liturgical features of the feasts of the Nativity of Christ, Holy Theophany, the Meeting of the Lord, and the civil New Year was held at the Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Chemolgan Station.
The event was organized by the Commission on Educational Ministry of the Astana and Almaty Dioceses.
The quiz was chaired by Protopriest Sergiy Kazimirov and the head of the Youth Department of the Almaty Diocese, Priest Georgy Rublinsky.
Participants included students of the seminary and representatives of Orthodox youth clubs from the Astana and Almaty Dioceses.
Before the intellectual competition, a lecture was delivered by Alisa Konstantinovna Uvarova, a professor at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. She spoke to the audience about Orthodox shrines in Montenegro, Europe’s smallest state in both area and population, where Orthodox Christians form the majority of the population.
Following the lecture, the quiz commenced, featuring questions on the Gospel events related to the Nativity of Christ, Holy Theophany, and the Meeting of the Lord. Several rounds of the quiz were dedicated to the New Year celebration.
The team from the youth clubs of the Southern Capital took first place in the competition, while the seminary team earned second place.
At the conclusion of the event, Protopriest Sergiy Kazimirov addressed the participants with words of encouragement and presented the winners with certificates and commemorative gifts.
The event concluded with a warm tea gathering, fostering fellowship among the participants.
