On January 26, 2025, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the Commission for Educational Ministry of the Astana Diocese held the international online carousel “Countries and Peoples: The Republic of South Africa.”
The competition continued a series of five youth online quiz games under the common title “Countries and Peoples,” dedicated to Christianity in Serbia and Montenegro, Greece, Mexico, the Republic of South Africa, as well as North and South Korea.
Teams of schoolchildren and students from Kazakhstan, Russia, and Lithuania participated in the intellectual competition. A total of nine teams took part—six representing Sunday schools, general education schools, and Orthodox gymnasiums, and three from parish youth clubs.
The quiz included twenty questions on the history, culture, geographical features, as well as the religious and ethnic composition of the population of the Republic of South Africa.
