In Astana, the concert “Wide Maslenitsa” was held

On 22 February 2026, in Astana, on Cheesefare Sunday (Forgiveness Sunday), the commemoration of the Expulsion of Adam, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the concert “Wide Maslenitsa” was held in the square in front of the Assumption Cathedral.

The celebration was organized by the parish community with the support of the Embassy of Russia in Kazakhstan, the “Russian House” and the Council of Russian Compatriots of Astana.

Among the audience were representatives of ethnocultural and public organizations, clergy and parishioners of the capital’s churches.

Greeting those present were Archimandrite Sergiy (Karamyshev), dean of the Astana church district, Ambassador of the Russian Federation A.N. Borodavkin and Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus A.I. Bogdanov.

Those gathered were offered a vibrant concert program consisting of song and dance performances, a theatrical sketch, various contests and games. Performing before the audience were: the folk Russian song ensemble “Razdolye,” the Russian Cultural Center, the Tatar-Bashkir cultural center “TAN,” the ensemble “Raduga,” animators from the “Lim-po-po” studio, the children’s Russian song ensemble “Pchelka,” and the youth ensemble of Russian and Cossack song “Zarnitsa.”

At the conclusion of the festive event, tea with pancakes was served.
