The event was organized by the public foundation “Apostle”, led by President G.G. Sosnovsky, and the information department of the Uralsk Diocese.

The work on the film was carried out with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander, in cooperation with the “Apostle” foundation, with the support of President G.G. Sosnovsky. The film crew, consisting of both Kazakhstani and international specialists, along with the administration of the Almaty Theological Seminary and staff from the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, worked for several months in 2023 in Astana, Almaty, Karaganda, and in the Almaty, Akmola, and Karaganda regions.

The film narrates the spiritual, educational, social, charitable, and peacemaking activities of the Orthodox Church in Kazakhstan, focusing on interfaith dialogue, and the relationship between the Church, the state, and society. A significant part of the documentary is dedicated to the political repressions of the 20th century, highlighting the assistance provided by the Kazakh people to innocent individuals who were exiled or imprisoned in camps within the Republic. The film alternates between interviews with hierarchs and clergy, notable public figures of Kazakhstan, and ordinary citizens, alongside footage of historical and cultural landmarks and the stunning landscapes of Kazakhstan.

Present at the screening were: Bishop Klavdian of Taldykorgan, Vicar of the Astana Diocese; clergy and parishioners of the churches of Uralsk; representatives from the “Apostle” foundation; scholars and members of the creative intelligentsia; art experts; and journalists.

Before the screening, the film’s directors addressed the audience, briefly explaining the concept of the documentary and the unique aspects of the production process.

After the screening, Bishop Klavdian spoke to the audience, expressing gratitude to the film crew for realizing this large-scale project, which reflects the multifaceted work of the Church for the benefit of the people of Kazakhstan.

The documentary will be shown to the general public in the dioceses of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District.
