November 22-24, 2024. Almaty. The Republican Freestyle Wrestling Tournament “Nova Cup 2024” took place at the “Alatau” Sports Complex.
The competition, held for boys born between 2008 and 2018, included 14 weight categories. Around 200 young wrestlers from Almaty city and the Almaty Region participated in the event.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, athletes from the St. Alexander Nevsky Sports Club at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Almaty took part in the competition. The club is led and coached by Deacon Alexander Voronin.
As a result of the tournament, Bogdan Feshchenko, a trainee of the Orthodox “Nevsky” Club, won the silver medal in the 44 kg weight category.
