November 24, 2024. With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the Astana Diocese’s Commission for Educational Service organized an international online carousel titled “Countries and Peoples: Greece.”
The competition continued a series of five youth online quiz games under the overarching theme “Countries and Peoples”, dedicated to Christianity in Serbia and Montenegro, Greece, Mexico, South Africa, and North and South Korea.
Participants included teams of school and university students from Kazakhstan, Russia, and Lithuania. A total of 20 teams took part, 14 of which represented Sunday schools, general education schools, and Orthodox gymnasiums, while six teams were from parish youth clubs.
The quiz questions focused on the history of Mount Athos as well as the culture, socio-political life, and historical heritage of the Hellenic Republic.
The carousel was divided into two subgroups: Sunday Schools (participants under 17) and Youth Clubs (participants over 17).
