Congratulations from the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation M.V. Mishustin on the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Astana Diocese

On September 28, 2024, the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin, congratulated Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the clergy, and the faithful on the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Astana and Almaty Diocese of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan:

Your Eminence!

Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Astana and Almaty Diocese of the Metropolitan District of Kazakhstan.

For a quarter of a century, the Astana Diocese, like the entire Metropolitan District of Kazakhstan, has made a significant contribution to preserving Orthodox traditions, strengthening interethnic and interfaith relations, and promoting the development of friendly, partnership, and allied relations between Russia and Kazakhstan. The diocese has collaborated fruitfully with representatives of public organizations, as well as figures in science, education, and the arts. It is impossible to overestimate the tremendous efforts of the clergy directed toward charitable and educational activities, the implementation of social initiatives and projects, and the restoration of churches and monasteries.

An important event is the bringing of the great Russian relic—the relics of Blessed Matrona of Moscow, venerated worldwide—to the monasteries and churches of Kazakhstan as part of the anniversary celebrations. This will further contribute to the unity of our peoples, who are connected by a shared history, bonds of brotherhood, mutual respect, and trust.

Special words of gratitude are due to Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, who leads the Metropolitan District of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Your many years of archpastoral ministry, good deeds, and care for the faithful are worthy of respect and sincere thanks.

I wish the participants of the celebrations and all the people of Kazakhstan peace, prosperity, and success in all good works and endeavors.
