Concerts dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the Feast of the Radiant Resurrection of Christ were held in the dioceses of the Kazakhstan Metropolis.
Karaganda Diocese
On May 9, 2025, a festive concert took place in the assembly hall of the Cathedral of the Entry of the Theotokos in the city of Karaganda.
Archbishop Sebastian of Karaganda and Shakhtinsk addressed those gathered with a word of greeting.
Performers included: the united choir of the Karaganda Diocese under the direction of V. Teslenko; the folk song and dance ensemble Kazachya Volnitsa; the vocal-instrumental ensemble Nostalgia; as well as students from Sunday schools and youth clubs of Kazakhstan’s mining capital.
At the conclusion of the evening, commemorative gifts were presented to all participants.
A field kitchen was organized on the cathedral grounds, where all present were offered soldiers’ porridge, hot tea, and sweets.
Petropavlovsk Diocese
On May 10, a solemn concert was held at the spiritual and administrative center of the Ascension Cathedral in the city of Petropavlovsk.
Guests of the musical celebration included: Protopriest Sergiy Pervushin, secretary of the diocesan administration; clergy of the Petropavlovsk Diocese; representatives of the creative community; Sunday school students; parishioners of the city’s churches; veterans of the Great Patriotic War; and home front workers.
Participants in the concert included the vocal ensemble Northern Star; the ensemble Favorite Voice; the ensemble Inspiration; students of Sunday schools and youth clubs; and vocalists from Petropavlovsk.
The audience enjoyed a vibrant program of musical, choral, and dance performances.
Ust-Kamenogorsk Diocese
On May 11, a festive concert took place in the square outside St. Andrew’s Cathedral in the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk.
Attending the celebration were: Archbishop Amphilochius of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semipalatinsk; Hieromonk Nikodim (Avdeev), sacristan of the cathedral; Deacon Ilya Kwan, diocesan secretary; clergy of the cathedral; and parishioners of the city’s churches.
The concert featured performances by students of the Central Sunday School of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Protodeacon Andrey Dudnik of the cathedral clergy.
The program included sacred hymns, poetry recitations, theatrical scenes, wartime songs, and choral pieces.
At the conclusion of the event, Archbishop Amphilochius thanked the teachers and students of the Central Sunday School for their labors and congratulated all gathered on the Feast of Holy Pascha and Victory Day.
