On May 15, 2024, the head of the Metropolitan District Commission for Charity and Social Service, Archpriest Vyacheslav Pugachev, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Almaty.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the wards of the diocesan social service were invited to the service - elderly and disabled people from the nursing home of the Orthodox Convent of Mercy in the village. Tuimebaev Alma-Ata region and other secular social institutions.
Sisters of mercy and volunteers of the Orthodox service “Mercy” also prayed during the Liturgy.
Participation in the festive Easter service became a special joy for people with disabilities who, due to health reasons, are not able to freely go outside, much less attend church. They managed to get into St. Nicholas Cathedral, equipped with a special elevator, without any problems.
Following the prayer behind the pulpit, Archpriest Vyacheslav performed a water prayer service and sprinkled those gathered with holy water. At the end of the prayer service, the shepherd congratulated the pilgrims on the feast of feasts and the triumph of celebrations - the Resurrection of Christ, the saving Easter of God.
