The Holy Fire descended in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem

11 April 2026. Holy Land. On Blessed Saturday, the descent of the Holy Fire took place in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.

Thousands of pilgrims from many countries witnessed the miracle, which has been repeated for centuries on the eve of Christ’s Pascha in the principal Christian shrine – the Church of the Holy Sepulchre – including a delegation of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District.

The pilgrimage group of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, which during Holy Week offered prayers at the biblical holy places, will, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, bring lamps containing the Holy Fire to our country.

In Alma-Ata, the reception of the Holy Fire will take place on the day of the Bright Resurrection of Christ, 12 April, before the beginning of Great Paschal Vespers, which will be celebrated by the Head of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District at the Ascension Cathedral.
