October 22, 2024. Almaty. An international round table on issues of interfaith and intercultural interaction, organized by the public institution “Multi-Faith Neighbors Network,” was held in the conference hall of the “BeFine” hotel.
“Multi-Faith Neighbors Network” is a non-profit organization whose activities are aimed at strengthening and developing interreligious dialogue and creating sustainable communities without discrimination and violence.
Participants in the event included leaders and representatives of Kazakhstan’s religious associations.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the round table was attended by teachers of the Almaty Theological Seminary: the head of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District’s public relations department and the keyholder of the Ascension Cathedral, Protopriest Alexander Suvorov, and the cleric of the St. Peter and Paul Church of the Southern Capital, Priest Kirill Gromov.
During the discussion, ethical, social, and legal aspects of interaction between different faiths were addressed. The attendees analyzed important historical documents and contemporary legal norms regulating the principles of relations between religious organizations and the protection of human rights.
In their speeches, Protopriest Alexander and Priest Kirill emphasized that adherence to legal foundations is crucial for ensuring the harmonious coexistence of various religious communities. They also highlighted the significance of the unique model of interethnic and interreligious cooperation that has developed in Kazakhstan.
The participants agreed that further development of dialogue based on mutual respect and legal responsibility will contribute to strengthening peace and harmony in Kazakh society.
The event concluded in a friendly atmosphere, and a group photo was taken to commemorate the meeting.
