On November 12, 2024, in Moscow, a regular session of the “Religions” working group of the Russian-German “Petersburg Dialogue” civil society forum took place.
Among the participants was Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen, the Administrator of the Kazakhstan Metropolia.
The session also included the participation of Archimandrite Philaret (Bulekov), Deputy Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate and head of the working group; Archpriest Sergiy Zvonarev, Secretary for Far Abroad Affairs of the DECR; V.V. Kipshidze, Deputy Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and Mass Media; Priest Alexiy Zhigalov, head of the Charity Fund for Interchurch Christian Diakonia of the St. Petersburg Diocese; Hieromonk Mikhail (Stolyarov), head of the Church Relations with Society and Mass Media Department of the Tashkent Diocese; Hierodeacon Alexiy (Ochkanov), a member of the DECR Secretariat for Far Abroad Affairs; M.B. Nelyubova, a DECR Secretariat staff member for Inter-Christian Relations; V.V. Rulinsky, press secretary of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service; T.V. Salzman, head of the Social Work Department at the Orthodox St. Tikhon’s Humanitarian University; A.S. Leviz from the charity organization “Favor”; and E.Yu. Ivanova, coordinator of social activities in Central Asia and Kazakhstan for the Synodal Department for Charity.
During the meeting, plans for the “Religions” group for 2025 were discussed.
The “Petersburg Dialogue” is a forum for civil societies of Russia and Germany. Established in 2001 at the initiative of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Federal Chancellor of Germany Gerhard Schröder, the forum aims to deepen mutual understanding between Germany and Russia and to further develop bilateral cooperation in all areas of society.
