Konstantin Ivanovich Zverev

(1881 - 1920) – deacon, hieromartyr

Commemoration on February 11 (January 29, O.S.), in the Assemblies of New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia and Kazakhstan.

He was born on September 3, 1881, in the family of a priest of the Sophia Cathedral in the city of Verny. He completed an incomplete course at the Verny Classical Gymnasium and three classes at the Tashkent Teachers' Seminary.

From May 1, 1903, he served as a psalmist in the Assumption Church of the village of Pakhomovka, Pronsk district, Ryazan Province.

On October 3, 1905, by the resolution of His Grace Paisius, he was appointed psalmist at the Sophia Cathedral in the city of Verny

On October 7 of the same year, he was transferred to the St. Nicholas Church in the village of Sofiyskaya (now the city of Talgar) in the Vernensky district of the Semirechensk region.

On February 19, 1906, he was ordained a deacon by His Grace Paisius for the same church.

On December 11, 1920, he interceded for Protopriest Ioann Granitov, the rector of the Talgar Church, during his arrest and was hacked to death with sabers (quartered). His remains were put into a sack and thrown into a ravine near the cemetery where executions were carried out.

In August 2000, at the Hierarchical Synod, he was canonized as a saint among the New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia and Kazakhstan.
