(1875 - 1937) – Deacon, Holy Martyr
Commemoration on November 2 (October 20 O.S.) in the Assembly of New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia.
Born in 1875 in the village of Krylovka, Chembar County, Penza Province.
Graduated from the Teacher's Seminary.
Lived in the city of Lipetsk, served as a deacon at the Studenov Church along with Bishop Uar (Shmarin).
Belonged to the old Tikhonov orientation.
Arrested on May 19, 1935, "for organizing resistance during the removal of the bells from the Studenov Church." On September 11, he was sentenced along with Bishop Uar by a special collegium of the city of Lipetsk under articles 58-10, 11 to five years in labor camps.
He arrived at Karlag from the Michurinsk prison on February 7, 1937. In Karlag, Deacon Mikhail Isaev was arrested on September 16, 1937. By the decision of the troika of the NKVD of the Karaganda region on October 31, 1937, Deacon Mikhail Isaev was sentenced to the highest measure of punishment - execution.
The sentence was carried out on November 2, 1937, at midnight.
Canonized as a saint of the New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia by the Bishops' Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in August 2000 for general church veneration.
