October 18 is the Day of Spiritual Accord of the people of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan congratulated the people of Kazakhstan on the holiday.
“Today’s celebration, observed by the people of Kazakhstan, is a symbol of unity and cohesion among representatives of various nationalities, beliefs, and cultures who inhabit our country – blessed Kazakhstan.
By putting into practice the high moral ideals of goodness and mercy, we strive to preserve and strengthen the great gift and treasure – peace.
The two leading religious confessions of the Republic – Orthodoxy and Hanafi school Islam – have for centuries nurtured spiritual accord across the expanse of the Great Steppe and pass down this sacred tradition to their descendants. The fruitful interfaith and state–religious relations that exist today contribute to the building of a spiritually strong and morally healthy society.
May God grant that in our country people of different nationalities, beliefs, and cultures may always have the opportunity to live in peace and work together for the good of our beloved Kazakhstan,” – reads the congratulatory message of the Head of the Metropolis of Kazakhstan.
