Archbishop Ipatiy (Valery Yuryevich Golubev) of Satpayev was born on July 17, 1966, in Kuibyshev.

In 1982, he graduated from Secondary School No. 96 in Kuibyshev.

From 1984 to 1986, he served in the Soviet Army.

In 1991, he graduated from the Kuibyshev Institute of Telecommunications Engineering, specializing in Automatic Telecommunications Systems.

In July 1994, he entered the brotherhood of the Holy Trinity–St. Sergius Lavra.

On April 5, 1996, he received the monastic tonsure from Archimandrite Feognost (Guzikov), Abbot of the Holy Trinity–St. Sergius Lavra, receiving the name Ipatiy in honor of St. Hypatius the Healer of the Kiev Caves.

In February 1997, he was transferred to the clergy of the Diocese of Novosibirsk.

On March 24, 1997, he was ordained to the diaconate as a hierodeacon, and on April 7, 1997, Bishop Sergiy (Sokolov) of Novosibirsk and Berdsk ordained him to the priesthood as a hieromonk.

From 1996 to 2002, he studied by correspondence at the Moscow Theological Seminary, and from 2006 to 2012, by correspondence at the Moscow Theological Academy.

From 1999 to 2018, he served as assistant to the rector of the episcopal metochion dedicated to the Mother of God Icon “Quick to Hear.” On April 5, 2018, he was released from the clergy of the Novosibirsk Metropolia.

On April 6, 2018, he was assigned to the clergy of the Diocese of Anadyr.

By decision of the Holy Synod on July 14, 2018 (Journal No. 50), he was elected Bishop of Anadyr and Chukotka.

On July 19, 2018, Metropolitan Varsonofy of St. Petersburg and Ladoga, Chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate, elevated him to the rank of Archimandrite.

He was nominated for the episcopacy on August 20, 2018, following the All-Night Vigil at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Solovetsky Monastery, and was consecrated bishop on August 21 during the Divine Liturgy at the monastery. The services were presided over by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’.

By decree of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill dated August 29, 2018, he was appointed rector of the Church of the Sign of the Mother of God in the Kuntsevo District of Moscow.

On March 17, 2019, during the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill elevated him to the rank of Archbishop.

By decision of the Holy Synod on July 16, 2026 (Journal No. 50), he was relieved of the administration of the Diocese of Anadyr and appointed Vicar of the Diocese of Karaganda with the title “Archbishop of Satpayev.”
