February 2, 2025 – the 32nd week after Pentecost, the day of remembrance of St. Euthymius the Great and the holy martyr priest Pavel (Dobromyslov), who suffered for Christ in Karlag in 1940.
Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the oldest church of the Kokshetau diocese – the Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel in the city of Kokshetau.
The head of the Metropolitan District was assisted by: Vicar of the Astana diocese Bishop Claudian of Taldykorgan, Bishop Chrysanthus of Chimkent and Turkestan, Vicar of the Astana diocese Bishop Veniamin of Talgar; Rector of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" in the city of Almaty, Archpriest Yevgeny Vorobyov; Rector of the Church of the Holy Martyr Grand Duchess Elizabeth in the city of Yereimantau, Archpriest Vasily Kachankin; Key keeper of the Constantine and Helen Cathedral in Astana, Archpriest Sergiy Kaliyev; Dean of the Kokshetau Church District, Archpriest Konstantin Kopnin; Head of the Personal Secretariat of the Metropolitan, Hieromonk Prokhor (Endovitsky); Head of the Administrative Secretariat of the Head of the Metropolitan District, Priest Georgy Sidorov; Key keeper of the Adriano-Natalievskiy Church, Priest Ioann Konoplev; Protodeacon Nikolai Grinkevich, head of the Metropolitan's protocol service Protodeacon Roman Golovin, Protodeacon Vladimir Syrovatsky, Deacon Rustik Yakubov, Deacon Alexander Piven and Deacon Andrei Kulyas.
The liturgical chants were performed by the choir of the Mikhail-Arkhangelsk Choir of T. Nekrasova.
The newly departed Archbishop of Kokshetau and Akmola Serapion was commemorated at the funeral litany.
The sermon on the communion verse was delivered by Priest Georgy Sidorov.
At the end of the Liturgy, the Metropolitan congratulated the archpastors, clergy and laity on the Sunday - the little Easter and delivered a word of instruction.
At the end of the service, the Head of the Metropolitan District performed a memorial litany for the newly departed Archbishop Serapion, who was buried at the altar of the church. His Eminence addressed those present with a word in which he gratefully recalled the labors of the late archpastor.
At the end of the litany, the hierarchs, clergy and believers sang eternal memory. Flowers were laid at the burial site.
