On the Ninth Day After the Repose of Archbishop Serapion, a Memorial Service Was Held in Kokshetau

February 5, 2025. Kokshetau. Nine days have passed since the repose in the Lord of Archbishop Serapion of Kokshetau and Akmola.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, following the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Holy Archangel Michael, Bishop Veniamin of Talgar, Vicar of the Astana Diocese, served a memorial service (panikhida) for the newly departed archpastor, who was laid to rest at the altar of the church.

His Grace was joined in concelebration by: Protopriest Vasily Kachankin, Rector of the Church of the Holy Martyr Grand Duchess Elizabeth in the city of Ereimentau; Protopriest Konstantin Kopnin, Dean of the Kokshetau Church District; Priest Valery Anferov, Dean of the Resurrection Cathedral; Igumen Seraphim (Filkov); Hieromonk Nikodim (Konovalov); and the clergy of the Kokshetau Diocese.

Attending the memorial service in prayer were the staff of the Kokshetau Diocesan Administration and parishioners of the city’s churches.

The choir of the Church of the Holy Archangel Michael, directed by Choirmaster T. Nekrasova, sang the liturgical hymns.

At the conclusion of the memorial service, Bishop Veniamin addressed those gathered with a pastoral word.

The clergy and faithful chanted “Memory Eternal” for the newly departed Archbishop Serapion.
