By the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the vicar bishops of the Astana Diocese celebrated the divine services of the First Week of Great Lent and the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy in the churches of the Metropolitan District of Kazakhstan.
On the morning of March 3, 2025, Monday of the First Week of Great Lent, Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen, Chancellor of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, prayed at the statutory service in St. Vladimir’s Church in Almaty, where Matins, the Hours, Typika, and Vespers were performed.
That evening, the hierarch presided over the reading of the Great Penitential Canon of St. Andrew of Crete in Holy Trinity Church of the Nativity of Christ Cathedral in Almaty.
On March 4, the Chancellor of the Metropolitan District of Kazakhstan officiated Great Compline with the reading of the Penitential Canon of St. Andrew of Crete in St. Nicholas Cathedral in Almaty.
On March 5, Bishop Gennady presided over the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts in St. Nicholas Cathedral in Almaty.
Concelebrating with His Grace were: Protopriest Valery Zakharov, Dean of the Churches of Almaty, Rector of St. Nicholas Cathedral; Priest Ioann Livinsky, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs of Almaty Seminary; Priest Oleg Nasymov; Deacon Alexy Kanushin; Deacon Ioann Churkin.
That evening, the archpastor officiated Great Compline with the reading of the third part of the Great Penitential Canon in the Church of the Synaxis of the Most Holy Theotokos of the Pokrov-All Saints Parish in Almaty.
On March 6, Bishop Gennady read the final part of the Canon of St. Andrew of Crete in the Dormition Cathedral in Astana.
On March 7, His Grace presided over the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts and the Blessing of Kollyva in Sts. Constantine and Helen Cathedral in Astana.

On March 8, Saturday of the First Week of Great Lent, the Feast of the Holy Great Martyr Theodore the Recruit, His Grace celebrated the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom in St. Seraphim of Sarov Church in Astana.
On March 9, the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen presided over the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great in the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos in Astana.
Concelebrating with the archpastor were: Archimandrite Sergey (Karamyshev), Dean of the Astana Church District; Priest Grigory Kulikov, Head of the Orthodox Youth Movement of the Astana Deanery; Priest Sergey Dianov; Priest Andrey Parfenov; Deacon Ilya Davydov; Deacon Mikhail Chumakov; Deacon Yaroslav Vokhmintsev.
The liturgical hymns were performed by the choir of the Dormition Cathedral under the direction of O. Varentsova.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the archpastor officiated the Rite of the Triumph of Orthodoxy.
At the end of the service, the Chancellor of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan addressed the numerous worshippers with a homily.
During Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of the First Week of Great Lent, Bishop Klavdian of Taldykorgan, Vicar of the Astana Diocese, officiated Great Compline with the reading of the Great Penitential Canon of St. Andrew of Crete in the Annunciation Church, the Representation of the Taldykorgan Vicariate in Almaty.
On March 5, Bishop Klavdian presided over the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts in the Annunciation Church in Almaty.
Concelebrating with His Grace were: Igumen Gavriil (Tutberidze); Protopriest Vladimir Glukhikh; Priest Nikolai Matlashov; Hierodeacon Veniamin (Vdovin); Deacon Rustik Yakupov.
The liturgical hymns were performed by the choir of the Annunciation Church, directed by A. Averyanova.
On Thursday of the First Week of Great Lent, the hierarch officiated Great Compline with the reading of the Penitential Canon of St. Andrew of Crete in the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian in Taldykorgan.
On March 7, His Grace presided over the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts and the Blessing of Kollyva in St. John the Theologian Cathedral in Taldykorgan.
Concelebrating with the bishop were: Priest Alexander Matlashov; Priest Igor Lazgiev; Deacon Rustik Yakupov.
The choir of St. John the Theologian Cathedral, under the direction of Y. Lazukina, sang the liturgical hymns.

That evening, the hierarch presided over the reading of the Great Penitential Canon of St. Andrew of Crete in the main church of the Kokshetau Diocese.

On March 9, the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, Bishop Veniamin of Talgar presided over the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great in the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kokshetau.
