Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan Arrives in Uralsk for the Funeral of Archbishop Anthony (Moskalenko)

April 24, 2025. The Head of the Orthodox Church in Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, arrived in the city of Uralsk.

With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, Metropolitan Alexander will preside over the funeral service (rite of burial) for the newly-reposed Archbishop Anthony (Moskalenko), which will take place on April 26, Holy Saturday, at the Cathedral of the Archangel Michael.

Participating in the funeral and burial of the departed hierarch will be: Bishop Veniamin of Talgar, Vicar of the Astana Diocese; Bishop Vianor of Uralsk and Atyrau; and clergy of the Uralsk and Atyrau Diocese.

Archbishop Anthony (Moskalenko) will be laid to rest at the altar of the Church of the Transfiguration in the city of Uralsk.

The Divine Liturgy for the Departed will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service.
