Celebration of the Bright Resurrection of Christ in the Dioceses of the Metropolitan District of Kazakhstan

Uralsk Diocese

On the night of April 19–20, Bishop Vianor of Uralsk and Atyrau celebrated the Paschal Divine Service of the Bright Resurrection of Christ at the Cathedral of the Archangel Michael in Uralsk.

Concelebrating with the archpastor were: Archimandrite Feodosiy (Kuryanov), rector of the Archangel Michael Cathedral in Uralsk; cathedral clergy – Protopriest Georgy Lemachko, Priest Andrey Alexandrov, Priest Alexey Potapov, Hierodeacon Arseny (Rybalko), and Deacon Vladimir Lemachko.

The liturgical hymns were performed by the cathedral choir under the direction of L. Bondareva.

After the Communion verse, the Paschal Messages of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and the Head of the Metropolitan District of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, were read aloud.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the blessing of kulichi, eggs, wine, and other festive foods took place.

After the service, Bishop Vianor addressed the faithful with an archpastoral word.

Shymkent Diocese

On the Feast of Holy Pascha, during the night of April 19–20, Bishop Khrisanf of Shymkent and Turkestan led the Paschal service at the main church of Shymkent – the Cathedral of St. Nicholas.

After the Prayer Behind the Ambo, the bishop blessed the Artos, and at the conclusion of the service, addressed all those present with words of greeting and blessed the Paschal foods.

On April 20, the day of the Resurrection of Christ, the Holy Fire, which had descended upon the Tomb of the Lord in Jerusalem on Holy Saturday, was brought to the Cathedral.

In the evening of Pascha, Bishop Khrisanf, concelebrated by diocesan clergy, served the Great Vespers at the Cathedral of St. Nicholas in Shymkent.

After the service, students of the Cathedral’s Sunday School presented a festive concert for the faithful.

Kostanay Diocese

On the night of April 19–20, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the Paschal Divine Service at the Cathedral of Saints Constantine and Helen in Kostanay was celebrated by Bishop Veniamin of Talgar, Vicar of the Astana Diocese, together with Hieromonk Gennady (Burdyuzha), diocesan secretary, and the cathedral clergy.

During the Liturgy, the “Catechetical Homily for Pascha” by St. John Chrysostom and the Paschal Message of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill were read aloud.

After the service, Bishop Veniamin congratulated all those praying with the Feast.

In the evening of April 20, Great Vespers was served at the Cathedral of Saints Constantine and Helen, celebrated by Hieromonk Gennady (Burdyuzha) and clergy of the Diocese.

The Holy Fire, descended upon the Lord’s Tomb in Jerusalem on Holy Saturday, was brought to the evening service.

 

Karaganda Diocese

On the night of April 19–20, festive services were celebrated at the Cathedral of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple in Karaganda by Archbishop Sebastian of Karaganda and Shakhtinsk.

Concelebrating with him were: Protopriest Dimitry Patrikeyev, Secretary of the Diocesan Administration, and the Cathedral clergy.

During the service, the Paschal Messages of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and the Head of the Metropolitan District of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander, were proclaimed.

After the Prayer Behind the Ambo, Archbishop Sebastian blessed the Artoses – special breads consecrated during the Paschal night.

At the end of the service, the archpastor addressed the clergy and faithful with words of instruction.

In the evening of Pascha, Archbishop Sebastian celebrated the Great Vespers at the Entry of the Theotokos Cathedral.

Petropavlovsk Diocese

On the night of April 19–20, Archbishop Vladimir of Petropavlovsk and Bulaevo led the Paschal celebrations at the Ascension Cathedral in Petropavlovsk.

Concelebrating with him were: Protopriest Sergey Pervushin, diocesan secretary; Hieromonk Seraphim (Maksimov); Priest Maxim Abdulkhasanov; Deacon Vladimir Bartol; and Deacon Alexey Alexandrovich.

During the Divine Service, the “Catechetical Homily for Pascha” by St. John Chrysostom and the Paschal Message of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill were read.

At the end of the Liturgy, the Artos was blessed.

Later that day, the archpastor, together with diocesan clergy, celebrated Great Vespers at the Ascension Cathedral.

Following the service, Archbishop Vladimir addressed the faithful with a sermon.

Ust-Kamenogorsk Diocese

On the night of April 19–20, Archbishop Amphilochius of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semipalatinsk celebrated Matins and the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom at the Cathedral of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called.

Concelebrating with the archpastor were: Hieromonk Nikodim (Avdeev), Cathedral Sacristan; Priests Vitaly Adamenkov, Roman Podrezov, Konstantin Dyakov; Protodeacon Andrey Dudnik; and Deacon Ilya Kwan, diocesan secretary.

After the Communion verse, the Paschal Messages of Patriarch Kirill and Metropolitan Alexander were read.

After the Prayer Behind the Ambo, Archbishop Amphilochius blessed the Artos and addressed the faithful with a greeting, congratulating all on the great Feast and the world-saving Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

At the conclusion of the service, the archpastor blessed the festive foods: colored eggs, curd Paschas, and kulichi.

In the evening of April 20, Archbishop Amphilochius served Great Vespers at the Cathedral of the Apostle Andrew, concelebrated by the rectors and clergy of the Diocese.

The Holy Fire, which descended in Jerusalem on Holy Saturday, was brought to the evening service.

Pavlodar Diocese

On the night of April 19–20, Archbishop Barnabas of Pavlodar and Ekibastuz celebrated the Midnight Office, the Paschal Procession, the Paschal Matins, and the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom at the Annunciation Cathedral in Pavlodar.

Concelebrating with him were: Protopriest Alexey Stepanov, diocesan secretary and dean of the Pavlodar District; Priest Alexey Gmyza; and Deacon Ambrose Taukenov.

After the Gospel reading, Protopriest Alexey Stepanov read the Paschal Message of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.

Following the Divine Service, the archbishop congratulated all those gathered with the Feast.

In the evening of Pascha, Archbishop Barnabas, together with diocesan clergy, celebrated Great Vespers at the Annunciation Cathedral.

Following the service, students of the Cathedral’s Sunday School presented a festive concert.

Kokshetau Diocese

On the night of April 19–20, Archbishop Barsanuphius of Kokshetau and Akmola celebrated the Midnight Office, the Paschal Procession, Matins, and the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom at the Resurrection Cathedral, concelebrated by the Cathedral clergy.

Following ancient tradition, the Gospel was read in several languages.

After the Prayer Behind the Ambo, the archbishop blessed the Artos, and at the end of the service, addressed the gathered faithful with words of greeting and blessed the Paschal foods.

Aktobe Diocese

On the night of April 19–20, Bishop Ignatius of Aktobe and Kyzylorda celebrated Matins and the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom at the Cathedral of St. Nicholas in Aktobe.

After the Communion verse, the Paschal Messages of Patriarch Kirill and Metropolitan Alexander were read.

At the conclusion of the service, kulichi, eggs, wine, and other festive foods were blessed.

In the evening of April 20, the bishop led the Paschal Great Vespers at the Cathedral of St. Nicholas in Aktobe.

Following the service, Bishop Ignatius congratulated the clergy and all gathered on the Bright Resurrection of Christ.
