Commemorative Memorial Services on the Ninth Day After the Repose of Archbishop Anthony

May 1, 2025. Nine days have passed since the repose in the Lord of Archbishop Anthony.

Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan served a memorial lity for the newly departed hierarch in the house church of the Iveron-Seraphim icon at the residence of the Head of the Metropolitan District.

Praying during the service were: Acting Rector of the Almaty Theological Seminary and Head of the Information Department of the Metropolitan District, Protopriest Evgeny Ivanov; Head of the Administrative Secretariat of the Metropolitan District, Priest Georgy Sidorov; and Head of the Metropolitan’s Protocol Service, Protodeacon Roman Golovin.

Following the lity, His Eminence and the clergy sang “Memory Eternal,” after which Metropolitan Alexander addressed those gathered with a word of remembrance, gratefully recalling the labors of the reposed archpastor.

On the same day, Bishop Vianor of Uralsk and Atyrau celebrated a memorial lity at the Church of the Transfiguration for Archbishop Anthony, who was buried behind the altar of the church.

Participating in the service were: Archimandrite Feodosy (Kuryanov), Rector of the Archangel Michael Cathedral in Uralsk; Archimandrite Dionisy (Kozulev), cleric of the Pokrov Women’s Monastery in Uralsk; Protopriest Anatoly Robu, Rector of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Uralsk; Igumen Dorofey (Dilmanaev), Head of the Information Department of the Uralsk Diocese; Protopriest Vladimir Gerasim, Dean of the Uralsk Church District; Protopriest Vasily Kroitor, Dean of the Priuralsk District; Protodeacon Ioann Roshka; Abbess Varvara (Morozova), Superior of the Pokrov Monastery, along with the sisters of the convent; clergy of the churches of the Uralsk Diocese; diocesan staff; and parishioners of the city churches.

At the conclusion of the service, Bishop Vianor delivered a sermon to the clergy and faithful.

Flowers were laid at the site of the Archbishop’s burial.
