May 6, 2025 – the feast of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God, the commemoration day of the Holy Great Martyr George the Trophy-Bearer, the Martyr Queen Alexandra, the Martyrs Anatolius and Protoleon, and the Hieromartyr John Anserov, presbyter, martyred in Karlag.
Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan celebrated the Divine Liturgy with the Paschal rite at the Church of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos in the Alatau district of Almaty, where the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan is located.
Concelebrating with the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan were: the vicars of the Astana Diocese – Bishop Klavdian of Taldykorgan and Bishop Veniamin of Talgar; Protopriest Evgeny Vorobyev, rector of the Almaty Church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow”; Protopriest Anatoly Boyko, rector of the Church of St. Alexius in the village of Baiterek; Protopriest Alexander Zyryanov, dean of the Ili Church District; Hieromonk Prokhor (Endovitsky), head of the Metropolitan’s personal secretariat; Hieromonk Alexy (Samosenkov), cleric of the Church of St. Alexius in Baiterek; Priest Georgy Sidorov, head of the administrative secretariat of the Head of the Metropolis; Priest Roman Klyuyev, rector of the Church of St. Alexander Nevsky in the village of Saymasay (Alexandrovka); Priest Nikolai Matlashov; Priest Georgy Rublinsky, sacristan of the Kazan Cathedral in Almaty; Protodeacon Nikolai Grinkevich; Protodeacon Roman Golovin, head of the Metropolitan’s protocol service; Protodeacon Vladimir Syrovatsky; Deacon Rustik Yakupov; and Deacon Georgy Tkachenko.
The choir of the Church of Christ the Savior in Almaty sang under the direction of E. Skorova.
Praying at the service were Orthodox residents of the Alatau district and believers from nearby settlements.
The sermon after the Communion verse was delivered by Priest Georgy Rublinsky.
The Liturgy concluded with the glorification of the feast of Holy Pascha and the Holy Great Martyr George the Trophy-Bearer, after which the archpastor proclaimed “Christ is Risen!” in various languages – both ancient and modern.
At the end of the service, the Head of the Metropolis congratulated Bishop Klavdian on the anniversary of his episcopal consecration. His Eminence the Metropolitan presented the hierarch with a commemorative panagia and wished him health and God’s help in his archpastoral labors on Kazakh soil.
The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan also congratulated Priest Georgy Sidorov, Priest Georgy Rublinsky, and Deacon Georgy Tkachenko on their name day in honor of their heavenly patron. His Eminence wished the clergymen health and divine assistance in their service for the benefit of Christ’s Church.
Having exchanged the Paschal greeting with the clergy and the faithful, Metropolitan Alexander delivered a homily.
