Protodeacon Georgy Zasypkin, a retired cleric of the Ust-Kamenogorsk Diocese, reposed in the Lord

On May 20, 2025, at the age of 49, following a prolonged illness, Protodeacon Georgy Zasypkin, a retired cleric of the Ust-Kamenogorsk Diocese, reposed in the Lord.

He was born on April 6, 1976, in the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk into a working-class family. Baptized in infancy, he graduated from the Almaty Diocesan Theological School in 1996.

On December 10, 1995, he was ordained to the diaconate by Archbishop Alexy of Almaty and Semipalatinsk (now Metropolitan of Tula and Yefremov), and appointed to serve at the Ascension Cathedral in Almaty.
For the Feast of Holy Pascha in 1996, he was awarded the right to wear the double orarion.
In 2002, for the Feast of Pascha, he was elevated to the rank of protodeacon. He served at St. Nicholas Cathedral and the Church of the Nativity of Christ in Almaty.
In 2010, for the Feast of Pascha, he was granted the right to wear the kamilavka.

On October 28, 2013, he was transferred to the Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semipalatinsk Diocese. On June 10, 2019, he was received into the ranks of the diocesan clergy and appointed a cleric of the St. Andrew Cathedral in Ust-Kamenogorsk.

The newly departed was known for his distinguished vocal abilities and his deep knowledge of the liturgical typikon.
