May 25, 2025. Almaty Region. Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan visited the church under construction in honor of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in the village of Malovodnoye (Baidibek Bi) of the Talgar Church District.
Together with V.M. Kapsamun, Director of the Eleos Charitable Foundation, the archpastor held a working meeting to discuss the completion of construction and finishing work at the Nativity of the Theotokos Church.
Participants of the meeting included: Protopriest Nikolai Tkachenko, Rector of the church; Priest Andrey Shklyar, assistant sacristan of the Ascension Cathedral in Almaty and representative of the Eleos Foundation; Priest Georgy Sidorov, Head of the Administrative Secretariat of the Metropolitan District; and construction supervisors responsible for the project.
Protopriest Nikolai informed the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan about the final stage of construction and preparations for interior finishing. Metropolitan Alexander was also updated on the progress of the bell tower.
A separate topic of discussion was the construction of the parish spiritual and cultural center, located on the church grounds. At present, interior walls are being erected and spaces are being shaped.
The participants also discussed the landscape design concept for the church grounds.
The Head of the Metropolitan District gave a positive assessment of the work accomplished and reviewed the activity plan for the coming months. At the end of the meeting, the archpastor expressed gratitude to all who have contributed to the building of the church and joined clergy and parishioners in prayer for the successful and timely completion of the construction.
The consecration of the cross and the cornerstone for the foundation of the church took place on May 30, 2023, as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of the establishment of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District. The church is being built with the support of the Eleos Foundation, funded by benefactors and voluntary donations of the faithful.
