Metropolitan Alexander visits the construction site of the church complex in honor of All Saints Who Shone Forth in the Land of Kazakhstan

June 2, 2025 – Astana. Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan visited the construction site of the church and architectural complex, which includes a church dedicated to All Saints Who Shone Forth in the Land of Kazakhstan, as well as the spiritual, cultural, and educational center of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District.

This project, awaited by numerous faithful, received the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’. During the meeting between Metropolitan Alexander and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the head of state was presented with the project and expressed his support for the idea of establishing an Orthodox educational center and church in the capital. By the President’s instruction, a plot of land was allocated by the city authorities and assigned to the Metropolitan District. Construction is currently proceeding at full speed, funded through charitable donations.

A working meeting was held following the site inspection, chaired by Metropolitan Alexander. Participating in the meeting were: Archimandrite Sergy (Karamyshev), dean of the parishes of the capital; Hieromonk Dimitry (Baydek), sacristan of the Dormition Cathedral; Archpriest Sergy Kaliyev, sacristan of the Constantine and Helen Church; V.I. Pomortsev, chairman of the supervisory board of “Astanatransstroy” construction company; staff of the Astana diocesan administration, architects, and engineers.

The head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan heard reports from the specialists responsible for the construction of the complex and issued instructions regarding the next stages of the work.

Metropolitan Alexander informed the participants that, during the upcoming Primatial visit to Kazakhstan this September, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ will consecrate the newly built church and familiarize himself with the ongoing development of the educational center.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the archpastor thanked all those present for their labors and wished them God’s help in the noble and responsible work of building the church complex, whose appearance is eagerly awaited by the Orthodox faithful of Astana.
