On June 29, 2025 – the 3rd Sunday after Pentecost, the commemoration day of Venerable Tikhon of Lukhov, Wonderworker of Kostroma, and Saint Theophan the Recluse of Vysha – with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the vicars of the Astana Diocese celebrated Sunday services in the churches of the Southern Capital.
The Chancellor of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Nikolsky Cathedral in Almaty.
Concelebrating with the hierarch were: the dean of the churches of Almaty and rector of the cathedral, Protopriest Valery Zakharov; Priest Oleg Nasy mov, Hierodeacon Athanasius (Kozel), and Deacon Alexey Kanushin.
The liturgical hymns were sung by the choir of the Nikolsky Cathedral under the direction of O. Berekesheva.
At the conclusion of the service, Bishop Gennady thanked the clergy and all participants in the Liturgy for their common prayer and addressed those present with words of edification.
The Vicar of the Astana Diocese, Bishop Klavdian of Taldykorgan, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian in the city of Taldykorgan.
Concelebrating with His Grace were: Protopriest Pavel Anishchenko, Priest Alexander Matlashov, Protodeacon Alexander Mokiy, and Deacon Rustik Yakupov.
The choir of the John the Theologian Cathedral sang under the direction of choirmaster Y.S. Lazukina.
Praying at the Liturgy were Orthodox residents of the Alatau microdistrict and faithful from nearby localities.
At the conclusion of the service, Bishop Klavdian congratulated the worshipers on the Sunday and delivered a sermon.
The Vicar of the Astana Diocese, Bishop Veniamin of Talgar, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in the Karasu microdistrict of Almaty.
Concelebrating with the hierarch were: the sacristan of the Exaltation of the Cross Church, Priest Roman Burdukov, Priest Evgeny Postrigan, and Deacon Pavel Kornienko.
The liturgical hymns were sung by the choir of the Exaltation of the Cross Church under the direction of N. Burdukova.
The archpastor offered prayers for the increase of love and the eradication of all hatred and malice.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Bishop Veniamin congratulated the faithful on the feast of the Little Pascha – the Sunday – and delivered a homily.
