On June 28, 2025, in Petropavlovsk, following the evening service at the Ascension Cathedral, Archbishop Vladimir of Petropavlovsk and Bulaevo performed the monastic tonsure of V.G. Nagorny, a staff member of the principal church of the capital of Northern Kazakhstan.
Praying during the tonsure were: Secretary of the Petropavlovsk Diocese Protopriest Sergiy Pervushin; cleric of the Ascension Cathedral Hieromonk Seraphim (Maksimov); rector of the Church of Saint Ambrose of Optina in the village of Tokushi, Hieromonk Dalmat (Prokhorov); cleric of the main church of the Petropavlovsk Diocese Priest Maksim Abdulkhasanov; Deacon Vladimir Bartol; and Deacon Alexey Alexandrovich.
The one being tonsured received the name Theophan – in honor of Saint Theophan the Recluse of Vysha, whose memory is celebrated on June 29.
At the conclusion of the tonsure, the ruling Archbishop Vladimir addressed the newly tonsured Monk Theophan with words of spiritual guidance.
As a blessing for the monastic life, His Eminence presented the monk with the Feodorovskaya Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos.
