On July 6, 2025, in Kokshetau, following the Divine Liturgy at the Resurrection Cathedral, Archbishop Varsonofy of Kokshetau and Akmola performed the rite of blessing for the members of the newly established diocesan sisterhood of mercy.
In order to develop church social ministry, and with the blessing of the ruling bishop of the Kokshetau Diocese, a sisterhood was established in honor of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God. The members of the organization will take part in diocesan social and charitable projects, provide assistance to large families, the lonely, and the homeless, and carry out informational and educational work among parishioners.
Before beginning the rite, the archpastor addressed those gathered with words on the importance of voluntary service to neighbors in difficult life circumstances.
Archbishop Varsonofy blessed each member of the charitable movement for their future labors and sprinkled them with holy water. Twelve women were admitted as sisters of mercy.
His Eminence wished the sisters health, strength, and help from the Lord.
The sisters of mercy of the newly formed sisterhood in honor of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God received theoretical training through an online course and practical instruction from the teachers of the Moscow Training Center of the Saint Alexis Hospital, based at the Resurrection Cathedral in Kokshetau. This became possible thanks to the support of the Director and Chief Physician of the Moscow Central Clinical Hospital of Saint Alexis, A.Yu. Zarov.
