On 13 August 2025, in Astana, with the blessing of the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the first domes were installed and crosses erected on the Church of St Sergius of Radonezh, currently under construction.
The St Sergius Church is part of an architectural complex being built in the capital of the Republic, which will include the Cathedral of All Saints Who Shone Forth in the Land of Kazakhstan, as well as a spiritual, cultural, and educational centre of the Metropolis of Kazakhstan.
It is expected that during the forthcoming Primatial visit to Kazakhstan in September of this year, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’, will visit the educational centre under construction and will perform the consecration of the newly built church.
The Orthodox spiritual and educational centre is being built in Astana with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and with the approval of the state authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, represented by the President of the country, Kassym-Jomart K. Tokayev. The construction is funded by benefactors.
