August 28, 2025. Astana. On the Feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan visited the construction site of the church complex, which includes the Cathedral in honor of All Saints Who Shone Forth in the Land of Kazakhstan, the church of St. Sergius of Radonezh, and the spiritual, cultural, and educational center of the Metropolis of Kazakhstan.
His Eminence performed the rite of consecration of the cross and dome for the church under construction in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh.
Praying at the service were: Archimandrite Sergius (Karamyshev), Dean of the Astana Church District; staff of the diocesan administration; and specialists responsible for the construction of the church.
After the appointed prayers, the hierarch sprinkled the cross and dome with holy water. Many years was proclaimed to the builders of the church and the benefactors who contributed funds for the creation of the bells. The Head of the Metropolis blessed those present with the altar cross.
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’, during his visit to Kazakhstan in September of this year, will visit the educational center under construction. The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church will consecrate the newly built church.
The Orthodox spiritual and educational center is being built in Astana with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and with the approval of the state authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, represented by the country’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Construction is funded by benefactors.
