September 5, 2024 - the aftermath of the feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos; the day of celebration in honor of the New Martyrs and Confessors of Akmola.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, Archimandrite Sergius (Karamyshev), Dean of the Astana Church District, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the New Martyrs of Akmola in the village of Akmol (Malinovka), Tselinograd District, Akmola Region, which is celebrating its patronal feast.
The dean was assisted by the key keeper of the church, Priest Maxim Madzhitov and Deacon Ilya Davydov.
The chants of the Liturgy were performed by the choir of the Dormition Cathedral under the direction of O. Varentsova.
The service was attended by employees of the Astana diocesan administration, residents of the village of Akmol, and pilgrims from the city of Astana.
The funeral litany commemorated Orthodox Christians "who were tortured and killed during the time of fierce persecution by the atheists, who died from hunger, cold, wounds, illnesses, and backbreaking labor." Special prayers were offered for the prisoners of the Akmola camp for the wives of traitors to the Motherland (ALZHIR).
At the end of the service, a glorification of the new martyrs and confessors of Akmola took place, after which Archimandrite Sergius delivered a sermon on the feat of the saints of God.
