October 17, 2025. Uralsk. Following the Divine Liturgy at the Transfiguration Cathedral, the funeral service for Archdeacon Vasily (Kryukov), the senior cleric of the Uralsk Diocese, took place.
Father Vasily reposed in the Lord at the age of 78.
The memorial service was led by Bishop Vianor of Uralsk and Atyrau.
On the eve of the burial, a farewell was organized at the Transfiguration Cathedral for Father Vasily. The Gospel was read over the body of the reposed clergyman.
Diocesan clergy, relatives, close ones, and spiritual children of the departed pastor gathered to pray during the funeral service.
Before the start of the funeral, the hierarch offered words of condolence. His Grace spoke about the meaning and importance of the Church funeral rite as a sending forth of the departed to eternal life, and called upon all present to fervently pray for the newly departed.
The ruling bishop of the Uralsk Diocese read aloud the message of condolence from the Head of the Orthodox Church in Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan.
The service concluded with the proclamation of “Memory Eternal.”
The coffin with the body of the reposed pastor was carried around the Transfiguration Cathedral as the Canon of Great Saturday, “The Sea Waves,” was chanted.
