June 26, 2024. Chimkent. On the day of remembrance of the martyr Pelagia of Karaganda and the Venerable Alexandra of Diveevskaya, at the end of the evening service in the St. Nicholas Cathedral, Bishop Chrysanthos of Chimkent and Turkestan performed monastic tonsure of Andrei Stroev, an employee of the diocesan administration.
 
The following people prayed for the tonsure: the dean of the South Kazakhstan church district, Hieromonk Anthony (Soloviev), Hieromonk Simeon (Yun), Hieromonk Philip (Konovalov), and monastics of the Chimkent diocese.
 
The tonsured man received the name Nicholas - in honor of the saint and wonderworker Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia.
 
At the end of the tonsure, the archpastor addressed the newly tonsured monk Nicholas with words of teaching.
