10 April 2026. Alma-Ata. On Great Friday, on the eve of the feast of Holy Pascha, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan performed the rite of consecration of antiminses for the churches of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District.
The service took place at the Matrona Church of the Iversky-Seraphim Convent of the Southern capital – the house church of the Alma-Ata Orthodox Theological Seminary.
Praying during the rite were: personal secretary of the Head of the Metropolitan District Hieromonk Dimitry (Baidek); head of the administrative secretariat of the Head of the Metropolitan District Priest Georgy Sidorov; head of the Metropolitan’s protocol service Protodeacon Roman Golovin; Protodeacon Vladimir Syrovatsky; Deacon Daniil Pasyuk.
In accordance with the rite of consecration of antiminses, the Metropolitan sprinkled the antimins cloths with holy water and rosewater, anointed them with holy chrism, after which a particle of the holy relics of the Hieromartyrs Seraphim and Theognostus of Aksai was placed into each of them. His Eminence read the prescribed prayers.
