On 5 December 2025, Moscow. On the seventeenth anniversary of the repose of the ever-memorable Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus Alexy II, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan served a memorial litia for the departed Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church in the church dedicated to the holy martyrs Faith, Hope, Love and their mother Sophia at the Patriarchal metochion in Moscow – the Representation of the Metropolitan District of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Staff of the Representation, benefactors of the Patriarchal metochion and parishioners of the church prayed at the service.
His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II reposed on 5 December 2008. The First Hierarch, who headed the Russian Orthodox Church for eighteen years, is buried in the Annunciation chapel of the Epiphany Cathedral in Moscow.
