Meeting of the Diocesan Council of the Karaganda Diocese

January 12, 2026 – Karaganda. A meeting of the Diocesan Council was held at the Diocesan Administration building under the chairmanship of Archbishop Sebastian of Karaganda and Shakhtinsk.

Participants included: Secretary of the Diocesan Administration, Archpriest Dimitry Patrikeyev; Dean of the Karaganda Church District, Archpriest Alexander Ugolkov; Dean of the Abai Church District, Archpriest Vladimir Freygang; Head of the Department of Religious Education and Catechesis, Archpriest Akhiya Rakhimzhanov; Head of the Department for Church–Society Relations, Hieromonk Moses (Patrikeyev); and Head of the Pilgrimage Department, Priest Alexander Podkova.

The working session began with the singing of the prayer “O Heavenly King.” The meeting was opened with a report by the ruling bishop of the Karaganda Diocese, Archbishop Sebastian.

During the meeting, council members discussed the plan of events dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the repose of the Venerable Confessor Sebastian of Karaganda, which will take place in April of this year, as well as other pressing issues of diocesan life.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Archbishop Sebastian thanked those present and bestowed his archpastoral blessing upon all.
